Psalm 118:24-29

“This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.”
We can plan for the future, but we must live for today. We have no guarantees—other than heaven for believers, hell for unbelievers, and the opportunity to live in this very moment. So, how will we live it?
I have mentioned this before, but I am reminded of a couple of things my mom said in her last days: “I thought I would have more time,” and, “Sweetie, make the most of every moment.”
Those two statements have stayed with me and have caused me to be grateful for every moment. I do not know how many days I have on this earth, but I want to make them count.
“Bless the one who comes in the name of the Lord.”
Do we bless those who come in the name of the Lord?
We have just lived through a tragic event where Charlie Kirk was killed for his beliefs in the Word of God. In a nation that founded on God’s Word, how is it that telling others what the Bible says is sin is considered as hate by some? How has the truth become hate speech? Where are we as a nation?
Considers the following:
““For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him. “There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him. But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son. And the judgment is based on this fact: God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil. All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed. But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants.””

This portion of Scripture explains, in a nutshell, what is happening today. People love darkness more than the light—and they often despise those who walk in the light. The righteous walk in the light, and that threatens those dwell in darkness.
As the Apostle Paul said:
“Don’t team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness? What harmony can there be between Christ and the devil? How can a believer be a partner with an unbeliever?”
2 Corinthians 6:14-15 NLT

We can only be a light to the world. We are called to be the Lord’s witnesses. We witness to the world as commissioned by the Lord Jesus. And yet, as the saying goes:
“You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink.”
Each person must choose the light over darkness. But don’t be surprised if you are hated by those who choose not to follow the Lord.
“This is the message you have heard from the beginning: We should love one another. We must not be like Cain, who belonged to the evil one and killed his brother. And why did he kill him? Because Cain had been doing what was evil, and his brother had been doing what was righteous. So don’t be surprised, dear brothers and sisters, if the world hates you. If we love our brothers and sisters who are believers, it proves that we have passed from death to life. But a person who has no love is still dead. Anyone who hates another brother or sister is really a murderer at heart. And you know that murderers don’t have eternal life within them.”

This tells us all we need to know: We triumph evil with good—not with hate.
