Psalm 119:9-11

In order to obey the Word of God, we must know the Word of God. I love where the psalmist says: “I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.”

Scripture is interesting in that it tells us that even without the written Word, God has placed within us a conscience that instinctively understands right from wrong. The Apostle Paul states it this way:

“Even Gentiles, who do not have God’s written law, show that they know his law when they instinctively obey it, even without having heard it. They demonstrate that God’s law is written in their hearts, for their own conscience and thoughts either accuse them or tell them they are doing right.”

We really have no excuse for not knowing the right way. So, rather than approaching life through trial and error, why not study the Bible to discover how to live a blessed life full of God’s favor? How can I say that with confidence? Jeremiah 29:11 tells us:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”

Life is meant to be enjoyed and lived rightly—and the two go hand in hand. There is no better feeling than knowing you are right in the center of God’s will. Much like living under the pleasure of your earthly father, when our ways please the Lord, we can sense His delight. Proverbs 16:7 puts it this way:

“When people’s lives please the Lord, even their enemies are at peace with them.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭16‬:‭7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I want nothing more than to know my Father is pleased with me. We should all long to hear those words, “Well done, my good and faithful servant (Matthew 25:23).”
