Psalm 97:10-12

“If you love the Lord, you will hate evil.” This flies in the face of those who scream for tolerance of behaviors specifically mentioned as sin in the Scriptures. We are called to love the sinner, yet hate the sin.
Consider 2 Corinthians 6:14-18:
“Don’t team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness? What harmony can there be between Christ and the devil? How can a believer be a partner with an unbeliever? And what union can there be between God’s temple and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God said: “I will live in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they will be my people. Therefore, come out from among unbelievers, and separate yourselves from them, says the Lord. Don’t touch their filthy things, and I will welcome you. And I will be your Father, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.””

God makes clear that to have relationship with Him means that we separate from people/things that practice/promote wickedness.
We live in a day and age where there are those that demand we accept lifestyles of wickedness. I can accept that we each have been given free will and can live however we would like, but I cannot accept that we can live that way and be okay with no consequence. It is not a case of judging someone, but rather an understanding of knowing what the Scriptures say is right and wrong, and that anyone who participates in acts of wickedness is headed for judgment. Telling people the truth is intended to help prevent them from having to be judged by a Holy God.
So what is wicked? It is whatever God says it is. Where do we find out what God says is wicked? In the Bible. The problem we have today is that most people are illiterate when it comes to the Bible. They know bits and pieces of what it says, but not the whole scope of God‘s Word. Scripture says that the “sum of thy word is truth”. That means we have to use scripture to define scripture. Often scriptures are taken out of context and doctrines are created on faulty interpretations of the Scriptures.
We all see in part so no one has the complete picture; but to develop a more complete picture than what we have today requires that we read the Bible. God‘s Word is truth. Anything that contradicts it is a lie. So we must know the truth in order to decipher what is a lie.
“Light shines on the godly, and joy on those whose hearts are right.”The wicked have no such promise. The promise for the wicked is judgment and eternal damnation. It is our love for God and our love for people that compels us to tell them the truth. It is for this reason that we, as ambassadors of Christ, are called to be witness of the Truth and tell others that they might change their ways and be reconciled to God.
Will we be so bold? People’s lives hang in the balance. As it has been said, “We may be the only Bible someone will read.”
May our lives display the truth and may our words point people in the right direction in Jesus Name!
