Psalm 119:12-16

It is interesting that the psalmist uses the word rejoice when referencing God’s laws. Laws are designed for our protection, but often people view them more as shackles—a lie the enemy has promulgated throughout history.
God’s laws are here for our good and should be seen in that light. They reveal the boundaries of life. We have the Owner’s manual— the Bible—that we can reference, which serves as a comprehensive guide to help us navigate life safely. Reading it and engaging in daily maintenance will keep us in good working order. It is also invaluable for troubleshooting, helping us correct what has gone awry so we can remain spiritually healthy and functioning properly.
Have we “rejoiced in God’s laws as much as in riches?” The answer is reflected in how we spend our time. Notice the psalmist speaks of reciting aloud all of God’s regulations, studying His commandments, reflecting on His ways, and most importantly, not forgetting His Word. How do we keep ourselves pure? By treasuring Gods Word deep in our hearts. All of these things require time. We are going to spend our time on something—so we might as well make it worth our while.
