Psalm 115:1-8

There is only One who deserves all the glory! In his foolishness, man invents ideas about who God is. Idols are made in the image of things that can be seen, yet God dwells in the unseen. Even when Moses asked for clarification about who God was, God replied, “I Am.” There is no defining God. No word can encompass all that He is. He is beyond description.

The psalmist here has much to say about idols that mankind fashions with their own hands—creates if you will— and then, in their foolishness, they worship what they themselves created as though it were God. What is wrong with this picture?

There is the Creator, and then there is the created—we must be careful not to confuse the two. There is the One who gives life, and then there are those who have been given life. We must never forget where our life comes from. Our life is a gift from the Almighty. Use it well for His glory.
