Psalm 102:12-17

It is amazing to me to read these psalms with their prophetic declarations, especially regarding Jerusalem, and see how God has come through for Israel time and time again. What the psalmist was declaring by faith for the future, we get to see fulfilled looking back through the advantage of historical eyes.

What a treasure history is for it records the faithfulness of God throughout the generations. There has always been and will always be a witness for the Lord in every generation. The message will always ring out and be received by receptive hearts no matter the opposition for the word of God cannot be contained. It is that powerful. God himself told the prophet Isaiah:

““The rain and snow come down from the heavens and stay on the ground to water the earth. They cause the grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry. It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭55‬:‭10‬-‭11‬ ‭NLT‬‬

That is why God’s promises are so powerful. What He says, He will do! It is important to read the Bible for it contains promises that God has given to mankind. When these promises are combined with our faith, they come alive and are made active in our lives. That is why the word of God, the Bible, is such a treasure.  It contains the mind, will, purpose and intent of God, and these nuggets of gold come alive in our lives when we discover them. As Myles Munroe was quoted as saying, “Nothing is yours until you find it!”

There is a treasure of knowledge, wisdom, and hope to be found in the Bible by those who actively seek God. For when we seek God with our whole heart, His promise is that He will be found by us.

The prophet Jeremiah records the Lord saying to him:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. I will be found by you,” says the Lord. “I will end your captivity and restore your fortunes. I will gather you out of the nations where I sent you and will bring you home again to your own land.””
‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭29‬:‭11‬-‭14‬ ‭NLT‬‬

God was faithful to His promises then, we can see He continues to be faithful today,  and He will continue to be faithful to all who call upon His name!

Amen!
