Psalm 103:1-5

When David says, “Let all that I am praise the Lord”, he means with every fiber of his being; with his whole heart, not just part of it. As we know, David is known for worshipping God with shameless abandonment.

It appears here that David is encouraging himself in the Lord. He is reminding himself of the great things God has done for him. Sometimes we need to remind ourselves too!

What good things has God done for us? He forgives ALL our sins and heals ALL our diseases. He redeems our life from death and crowns us with love and tender mercies. Our lives are filled with good things because of the blessing of the Lord and our youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

These are promises of God and things to praise God about each and every day.

When life gets us down, we must remind ourselves of all that God has done for us. It is hard to be depressed and grateful at the same time. In fact the Scriptures say to put on the ‘garment of praise’ for the ‘spirit of heaviness.’ Just like we get dressed in the morning putting on our clothes, so must we ‘put on’ praise as a garment. It is a choice we make each and every day. We choose to be grateful and joyful because of all that God has done for us.

Our joy and trust is never misplaced in God. He is worthy of all the praise we can give Him and then some. As we focus on our eternal Answer for all things, our problems get diminished and fade in the light of His glory.
