Psalm 99:6-9

God is always there for those who call upon His name. It was Moses who asked God to show him His ways that he might walk in them. When you love someone, you want to please them and I can think of no greater thing for Moses to ask God.

Consider your prayer life. It has been said that 90 - 95% of our prayers are about our needs. The rest of our prayers are for others with a tiny percentage asking God what His needs are and what He wants. We don’t usually think to ask God what He wants because He has everything, right? What does God want or need? He wants and needs you!

Consider 2 Peter 3:9:

“The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.”
‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭3‬:‭9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

This is where we see the tension that exists between the love of God and the justice of God. Love longs for reconciliation yet justice demands that wrongs be righted. In 2 Peter we see that God delays judgment at times to give people time to repent. But judgment is coming and we determine whether we will be the recipients of it. Repentance is the key to forgiveness. That is why Jesus message was to “repent for the Kingdom of God was at hand”, and we should all want to be a part of it.

So, what can we do for God? We can get right with Him and do the things that please Him; and then we can reach out to others and make sure they hear the message of salvation and have the opportunity to be reconciled to God through Jesus as well. People are the most dear to His heart, so much so that He sent His Son, Jesus, to die for them. He is not willing that any perish but that all come to eternal life.

So the next time you are in prayer be mindful to ask God what He needs. Maybe there is something He needs you to do or there is someone He wants you to reach out to. Always be open to His whispers in your heart. They always lead to life for you and for others.
