Psalm 135:13-14

It amazes me to consider how God continues to be known in every generation despite man’s attempts to say He doesn’t exist. Why is that? Perhaps it is because He makes Himself known in every generation. How did I, as a young girl at the age of 4, have a dream about Jesus and know who He was? I told my mom the next morning and her response was, “Who told you about Jesus?” We didn’t go to church, but I knew who He was in my dream.

Some people have visions, some have dreams, some have experiences that defy the bounds of normalcy. One thing is for sure—those who seek Him will surely find Him, and in some cases, even those who don’t seek Him have an encounter with Him and their lives are forever changed. I have heard testimonies of former Muslims who had visitations from Jesus, resulting in conversions of massive proportions—not unlike what happened to Saul on the road to Damascus, as we read in Acts 9:

“Meanwhile, Saul was uttering threats with every breath and was eager to kill the Lord’s followers. So he went to the high priest. He requested letters addressed to the synagogues in Damascus, asking for their cooperation in the arrest of any followers of the Way he found there. He wanted to bring them—both men and women—back to Jerusalem in chains. As he was approaching Damascus on this mission, a light from heaven suddenly shone down around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul! Saul! Why are you persecuting me?” “Who are you, Lord?” Saul asked. And the voice replied, “I am Jesus, the one you are persecuting! Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.” The men with Saul stood speechless, for they heard the sound of someone’s voice but saw no one!”

Can you imagine what was going through Saul’s mind at this time? He just got called out by the One he claimed was dead and gone! Be careful what you say about Jesus! Jesus could have killed him on the spot, but instead, He extended mercy, for He had plans for Saul that Saul knew nothing about. Saul’s name was later changed to Paul, who ended up writing two-thirds of the New Testament—talk about a conversion! You don’t go from vehemently denying Jesus to vehemently believing in Him without an encounter. Jesus continues to make Himself known, and that is why we still hear stories of His work in people’s lives—each amazing, with lives forever changed.

Consider Jesus own words in His prayer to God in John 17:26:

“"O righteous Father, although the world has not known You, yet I have known You; and these have known that You sent Me; and I have made Your name known to them, and will make it known, so that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them."”

Amen! And that is why we believe—because He continues to make Himself known to every generation.
