Psalm 97:1-9

Who doesn’t want to have governmental structures that are godly, righteous and just at their core? I love that the Scriptures declare that “Righteousness and justice are the foundation of God’s throne.” This tells me that God’s rule can be trusted. The only people that bothers are those who are out for themselves and promote evil. There will be recompense for those who do evil. Selfishness has no place in the Kingdom of God for God’s Kingdom is built upon serving one another. Is that not what Jesus did for us? As stated in Matthew 20:25-28:

“But Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers in this world Lord it over their people, and officials flaunt their authority over those under them. But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must become your slave. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.””

The world pushes people to strive for status and power over others where as the Kingdom teaches us to put other’s interests above our own. The two could not be further apart. They are run by a different set of core beliefs. As 1 John 2:16 states:

“Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭2‬:‭15‬-‭17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

It took me awhile to really understand what this was talking about because we are so conditioned from early on in worldly thought; but as we grow in spiritual understanding, we begin to see what is truly important. I believe this understanding is also a product of age and experience as we discover through trial and error that His ways always work best in our lives.

We want to be able to count or rely on something or someone and the Kingdom of God, along with its King, Jesus, never disappoints.

Those who worship idols will be disgraced for all gods will bow before Him. Jesus is the King above all other kings and the Lord above all other lords. Why give your allegiance to anyone else?

“For You, O Lord, are supreme over all the earth.”
