Psalm 98:1-3

We sing because the Lord has done mighty things and has revealed His righteousness to every nation. Equal opportunity is available to all who would accept His offer of forgiveness and reconciliation. There is no soul, no matter how dark, that He cannot redeem. One has only to look up and call upon His name for “all who call upon the name of the Lord will be saved” (Romans 10:13).
I saw a quote on a post yesterday that I shared that I will share again as it conveys the truth of the Gospel:
“The Gospel is not God hatefully saying: “Turn to Me or I’ll send you to hell.” The Gospel is God’s mercy and Grace saying: “You’re already on your way to hell, turn to me and I’ll save you.”
Most don’t realize their destination without God’s intervention. But God’s intervention comes at our invitation. We must humble our selves before God and ask for Him to save us. The trick is to recognize our need. It is when we recognize our need that we are willing to ask. This is especially tough for the intellectual or ‘self-made’ person for they feel they have what they need without God’s help.
When I came to the Lord in college, that was my struggle. I did not understand why I needed the Lord as things were going well in my life. When asked where I thought I would go when I died, I said I thought I would go to heaven because I was a good person. It was a scripture that a friend shared with me that spoke to my heart that opened my eyes and it is found in Ephesians 2:8-9:
“God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.”
Ephesians 2:8-9 NLT

I realized that my entrance into heaven was not a matter of my works but rather of believing and acknowledging Jesus as Lord and accepting His gift of salvation.
It is His Kingdom. All kingdoms require acknowledgement of its king and laws. What makes us think we will get into heaven without proclaiming allegiance to God and His ways?
Consider Romans 10:9-13:
“If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.” Jew and Gentile are the same in this respect. They have the same Lord, who gives generously to all who call on him. For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.””
Romans 10:9-13 NLT

And that is why we sing. We have been saved through the blood of Jesus and as we remain in Him, our eternity is secured.
Good News this Sunday morning! What a great day to accept His invitation. Why not head to church and get things right with God? You won’t regret it. See you there!
