Psalm 117:1-2

The call goes out for all nations to praise the Lord. The whole earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord. As the prophet Habakkuk stated:
“For as the waters fill the sea, the earth will be filled with an awareness of the glory of the Lord.”

I believe most people have at least some awareness of God. Even as a young child, I had questions about my existence, even though we were not churchgoers. God’s handiwork is visible everywhere in His creation, yet that is not what He is most known for. The psalmist tells us to praise Him for His unfailing love, which is powerful, and for His faithfulness, which endures forever.
Unfailing love—love that never fails us. The kind of love that would cause Jesus to die for us while we were still sinners.
Consider Paul’s words:
“Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”) No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

And then there is His faithfulness. Faithfulness is one of those rare qualities that is hard to find. It conveys unwavering reliability, steadfast loyalty, and complete trustworthiness. God is utterly dependable and always keeps His promises. He is faithful to His covenant and to His people—this is a core aspect of His character. The Bible records God’s faithfulness through the ages.
It is a sobering thought that the God of all knows our names—why? Because He created us. The One who spoke the world into existence took care to form you and me, and He calls us His own. None of us is here by chance. None of us is an accident. We are here because He wanted us here.
Consider God’s words to Jeremiah:
““I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.””
Jeremiah 1:5 NLT

How can God know someone even before they were in their mother’s womb? Because He is God! His knowledge is beyond our understanding. He is the Author of life, and before we ever drew our first breath, He already knew our name, our days, and the purpose for which we were created.
He can be trusted. He is worthy of all of our praise and desires the very best for us because of His great love. Who could reject such a loving and faithful God?
