Psalm 106:34-39

God chose a people from among the nations for Himself. Through them, He revealed His glory which we read about throughout the Old Testament. Through them, Jesus, the Savior of the world, came.
The Israelites were set apart from the other nations and considered holy to the Lord and were not to intermingle with other nations lest they learn their customs and be drawn away to serve other idols and ‘gods’. They were chosen by God and yet rejected God by the way they lived bringing God’s anger upon themselves. As the psalmist states, “They worshipped their (other country’s) idols which became their downfall.”
America, much like the nation of Israel, was dedicated to the Lord in its inception. Our forefathers knew the Scriptures and knew of God’s promise, as Psalm 33:12 states, that:
“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, The people whom He has chosen for His own inheritance.”

There is a reason we have, “In God we trust” on our coinage and yet, like the Israelites, we have abandoned God in many ways have served the gods of mammon and convenience. Many of the despicable practices that got the Israelites in trouble are now openly paraded in the public square in open defiance to the One True God. Don’t think for one moment that God has turned a blind eye. Thank God for mercy and for a remnant of people who faithfully pray for Israel, pray for this nation, and pray for the world that they would remember their God, turn to Him, and repent.
Sodom and Gomorrah needed just 10 righteous to be saved. Unfortunately for them, God couldn’t even find 10. My prayer is that we will experience a revival in our land and get back to our roots in God and be a lighthouse to the world.
Much like King Josiah, may we reconnect with our God and make the reforms necessary to bring God’s blessing back into our land by not tolerating or participating in the deeds of darkness, nor letting them flourish in our land.
The Israelites were guilty of sacrificing their sons and daughters to the idols of Canaan. Have we not done the same with abortion? And it is murder in the eyes of God, which as the psalmist states, pollutes the land. Our love for idols (anything that takes the place of God in our lives) is considered adultery in the eyes of God.
We have a lot of work to do as a nation and it starts with acknowledging the One True God, turning to Him, repenting of the things God calls sin in our lives, and living in ways that are pleasing to Him.
Remember, He is the one we face at the end of our days here. We determine how that meeting will go by the choices we make, who we choose to serve, and the way we choose to live.
Food for thought..
