Psalm 104:19-24

God loves variety. There seems to be no two things alike. Even Zebras, I am told, can be distinguished by subtle differences in their strips. Every creature, every human is unique. We are all different by design with unique expressions meant to glorify God, and yet we tend to huddle in together in group think that dampens our individual expression.
As people, we must learn to embrace and allow for those differences within the specific parameters God has set up. What differences am I speaking about? Male, female, skin color, age, height, perspective, personality, introvert, extrovert, culture, language, talent, gifting, etc…
In thought, it seems all well and good that opposites attract for we are meant to supply what is lacking in each other; but life gets real when you live together in the bonds of marriage. We need God to be able to walk together in agreement as these differences force us to learn valuable qualities such as patience, humility, unselfishness, forgiveness, deference, mercy, kindness…etc.. The tension that naturally exists because of these differences forces the need for these virtues to be developed. They provide us the opportunity to exercise and develop these qualities that we wouldn’t learn otherwise.
And God did this by design! ? I have often questioned Him on this because it would just seem it would be so much easier if we all thought alike. But what fun is there in that?!
Life is a lot about discovery. We get to discover who we are as we relate to God, but then we also get to discover who others are as they relate to God. That discovery gives us glimpses into the nature of God for each person expresses Him uniquely. We have been stamped in His image which is vast and even if we were all put together, we still would not capture a complete picture of God for He exists that far outside our box.
There is such beauty in diversity if we choose not to be threatened by it.
