Psalm 118:1-9

The psalmist is declaring as the Apostle Paul also states , “If the Lord is for us, who can be against us?” The faithful love of the Lord endures forever; therefore, we can trust in the Lord and not be afraid.

The Lord is for us—just let that sink in. If we could have anyone in our corner, it would be Him.

“I will look in triumph at those who hate me.” That verse is especially meaningful to me with the tragic loss of Charlie Kirk this past week. The enemy may have thought he won, but Charlie is now observing from heaven, in the place of victory. Our loss is Heaven’s gain, as he passed from death to life—never to die again.

However, It still doesn’t seem real to me; but it serves as a reminder that there are those who hate us without cause. The enemy lies about those he targets to get people to do his dirty work—and they fall for it. How many lives have been impacted by this horrible deed? And yet, God in His goodness will take what the enemy meant for bad and turn it to good. Sometimes you just have to keep your eyes on the big picture, which extends far beyond the confines of this natural world.

The best way to honor the memory of those who have gone before us is to continue God’s work. Their race is won; our’s is still ongoing.

It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man. Man, no matter how good, will let us down. Even Jesus said that He would not entrust himself to man because He knew what was in man. That is not a negative statement—rather, it affirms that God is the only One who is utterly reliable. People want to be dependable, but often life gets in the way. There is only one who is with you 24/7.

Spend sometime getting to know your Father in heaven, and you will find there is truly nothing to be afraid of.
