Psalm 94:20-23

To tweak a line from the movie Forrest Gump, “A Christian is as a Christian does.” Having observed our government for some time now, and in no way an expert by any means, one thing I have learned is that it is not what they say, but rather what they do that reveals who they are. I have observed administrations that honor God, and administrations that seem to make their aim to upend anything sacred.
As a believer for some 45 years, I am amazed at how far we have digressed as a nation in regard to what is promoted in the public forum. There was a time when Sundays were revered and honored, where even businesses remained closed for it was understood that it was the Lord’s day. But little by little that has changed and it seems the church is competing with all kinds of things on Sundays. Then we went through Covid where the church was given the designation of non-essential, where other large corporations such as Walmart and Target, even liquor stores, were allowed to remain open while some pastors were prosecuted in some states for the great crime of having a church service, outside none the less.
We need to understand our enemy. It is not people, however he will use people who are subject to him. Little by little he has been taking ground away from the church and as it has been said, the church is but one generation away from apostasy. One has only to read through Judges and study the Kingdom period to understand the truth of that statement.
What kind of generation are we? Are we going to allow that to happen on our watch? I have seen enough to recognize that we have been on such a decline, but thankfully, the tide is turning. I believed the enemy overplayed his hand and woke the church up…Thank God! I am seeing a return to the principles that once made us a great nation and believe that we will shine again for righteousness as a lighthouse ordained by God. God is rooting out compromise and giving His people boldness and a clear message of truth. We cannot live for God while tolerating evil in our midst. God is clear throughout history that we must remove from the land the things that pollute it.
A good case study on this is King Josiah. Having discovered the book of the Law discarded by previous kings during some temple renovations, he read it and became quite alarmed as recorded in 2 Kings 22:11-13
“When the king heard what was written in the Book of the Law, he tore his clothes in despair. Then he gave these orders to Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam son of Shaphan, Acbor son of Micaiah, Shaphan the court secretary, and Asaiah the king’s personal adviser: “Go to the Temple and speak to the Lord for me and for the people and for all Judah. Inquire about the words written in this scroll that has been found. For the Lord’s great anger is burning against us because our ancestors have not obeyed the words in this scroll. We have not been doing everything it says we must do.””

This led to great reforms in Israel and Josiah earned the distinction of being one of the great kings. I believe we are on the cusp of a great reawakening to the things of God and a genuine revival is upon us again. May we not waste it, but rather fan the flames of revival for the glory of God. The next generation is counting on us!
