Matthew 7:12

Boy, if we could just learn to do this, it would solve most of the world’s problems. Known as the Golden Rule, this verse is simple to understand, yet profound and far-reaching in its application.

Remember the wristbands that were popular several years ago with WWJD—“What Would Jesus Do?” It’s a simple question, yet it serves as a powerful reminder to pause, reflect, and think before we speak or act.

Or consider the movie Pay It Forward. It carried the same premise: pay forward to others what you would have them do in return. It starts with us.

Notice it doesn’t say, “Do unto others as they have done unto you.” That seems to be a principle of the world, somewhat supported in the Old Testament by the phrase, “An eye for an eye.” Yet Jesus even challenged that and told us to pray for our enemies.

We are called to be different and to show a better way. If we plant seeds of goodness, we will eventually reap the benefits, for what we sow is what we will reap.
