Psalm 136:23-26

I have always loved the story Footprints in the Sand:
“One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Scenes from my life flashed across the sky. In each, I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints; other times there was only one.
During the low periods of my life I could see only one set of footprints, so I said, ‘You promised me, Lord, that you would walk with me always. Why, when I have needed you most, have you not been there for me?’
The Lord replied, ‘The times when you have seen only one set of footprints, my child, is when I carried you.’”
It is in the times we are the weakest that Jesus is the One carrying us. In fact, the Apostle Paul echoes this thought in 2 Corinthians 12:
“Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

Truly our walk with Christ works in ways quite opposite to the world. Most unbelievers would say, “What kind of statement is that—‘When I am weak, then I am strong’?” It all comes down to knowing Who has your back.
There are wonderful accounts of God’s deliverance throughout the Bible, and one of my favorite verses is actually found in two places: in Isaiah 42:3 speaking prophetically, and in its fulfillment referring to Jesus in Matthew 12:20:
“"A battered reed he will not break off, and a smoldering wick he will not put out, until he leads justice to victory. "and in his name the gentiles will hope."”
Matthew 12:20-21 NASB1995

Jesus was often “moved with compassion” for the condition of mankind. Yet the religious of the day killed Him for it because His actions exposed them for failing to do what they were called to do. It is much like when the new employee joins a company and outshines everyone through strong work ethic, putting others to shame—he is usually not the most popular.
Jesus had a job to do, and His mission was to reveal the Father and His compassion. In that compassion, He offered us the ultimate gift—His life, in exchange for ours—so that we could be reconciled with the Father.
Never question God’s love for you. Rather, give thanks as the psalmist does, for “His faithful love endures forever.”
