Matthew 2-:17-19

Probably not the words the disciples wanted to hear—or believe. And this wasn’t the first time Jesus told them this. In fact, Peter was rebuked by the Lord in Matthew 16 for “seeing things merely from a human point of view.”
This was the very purpose for which Jesus came. He had to die for mankind, for it was the only way we could be saved. This must have been difficult for the disciples, not understanding why it was necessary. They were expecting Jesus to deliver them from Roman rule, yet that wasn’t His purpose. He was, in fact, delivering them—and us—from Satan’s rule, with far more lasting and eternal benefits.
He didn’t have to do this, you know. It was His love for us, and His love for the Father, that compelled Him to follow through with His mission.
Our mission is to tell the world of His great sacrifice on our behalf. There is a world out there still stuck in Satan’s clutches, not knowing the truth. This Easter, let’s make it a point to tell someone. Invite someone to church. And make sure you are there as well. It is the least we can do in honoring His sacrifice.
