Matthew 8:14-17

We are beginning to see a pattern here. Everywhere Jesus shows up, He brings the benefits of the Kingdom of God with Him. Evil spirits were cast out with a single command, and Jesus healed all the sick.
What is truly remarkable is that Matthew makes the connection that Isaiah prophesied this about the Messiah:
“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.” Isaiah 53:5 NKJV
Healing is a benefit of the Kingdom of God. Jesus purchased our forgiveness and our healing at the cross. We do not need to pay for it again; yet there is an element of faith that is required. Faith is heaven’s currency, as my husband loves to say.
Consider David’s words in Psalm 103:2–3:
“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases.” Psalms 103:2–3 NKJV
This always challenges me, because we, as believers, are supposed to bring the goods of the Kingdom with us. We are meant to be dispensers of the good things of God.
Psalm 84:6 states that as we pass through the Valley of Baca (or weeping), we make it a place of springs because of Who is in us.
“Greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world” (1 John 4:4). God has given us authority through Jesus to bind the works of the devil; yet, for many, that authority goes unrealized. Faith is the key to walking in the power and authority given to us by Jesus.
Did He not tell His disciples:
“Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” Luke 10:19 NKJV
We have the authority, but it does us no good until we exercise it.
We must all grow in our faith and knowledge of the King so that we can be ambassadors who accurately represent the Kingdom of God, destroying the works of the devil just as Jesus did.
