Matthew 17:14-20

This contains a powerful truth—if we can truly grasp it: the blessings of heaven are unlocked by our faith. Faith is the key. Jesus clearly stated that it was the disciples’ lack of faith that prevented them from being able to drive out that particular demon.
Imagine telling someone today that their lack of faith is preventing them from receiving the benefits of the Kingdom. It may not sound like the most sensitive comment, but it is the truth nonetheless.
Hebrews tells us that without faith, it is impossible to please God. We must come to Him in faith, believing that what He has said is true. Jesus also seems to imply that there are no limitations to the power made available to us through faith—in fact, in His words, “nothing would be impossible.”
Consider what John wrote in 1 John 5:14–15: that we can have confidence God hears us when we ask according to His will, and if He hears us, we can trust that we have what we have asked of Him.
So what is hindering us? Often, it is our own lack of faith.
So what can we do about it? Scripture says that faith comes from hearing the Good News about Christ. The more we read the Bible and understand the truth contained within it, the more we can step out in faith, acting on that truth and bringing the realities of heaven here to earth.
