Psalm 93:1-5

We have a promise here that says that the world stands firm and cannot be shaken. This stands in stark contrast to all the Chicken Littles who try and convince us that the sky is falling.
Mankind does, however, have an assigned stewardship over the earth going all the way back to the Garden as reflected in God’s words to Adam in Genesis 1:28:
“Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.””

We are to tend and care for the earth, and all that resides on it, rooting out the weeds and keeping the land productive for God as God’s image bearers sharing in God’s rule over the earth.
What did Jesus tell us to pray? Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done here on earth as it is in heaven. We are to be the conduits of that taking place in the earth by His power flowing through us. Consider these words Jesus told Philip in John 14:12:
“Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied.” Jesus replied, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still don’t know who I am? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father! So why are you asking me to show him to you? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I speak are not my own, but my Father who lives in me does his work through me. Just believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. Or at least believe because of the work you have seen me do. “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!”

The Father who lives in us does His work through us, if we allow Him to. We are called to do the same works Jesus did while on the earth. It is all part of God’s original mandate. As Jesus spokes to the storms that bring destruction, so are we called to do the same. As Jesus chastised the boys in the boat for their lack of faith in the midst of the storm, so might He say the same to us at times when we complain about everything going on around us. Our time is better spent speaking to these storms and commanding them to get in line with the word of God. We have that power? Jesus said we do! We just need to realize who we are and who He is and the scope of the authority He has given to us. Jesus said He has given us power over all the power of the enemy; and we know that the enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, so anything under that category is open game for correction by the will and power of God as spoken through us.
Let me close with this Scripture in Mark 11:22-25:
“Then Jesus said to the disciples, “Have faith in God. I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart. I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours. But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too.””

The power of God is available to us, we just have to make sure we truly believe and that our heart is in a good place to access and release it.
