Matthew 6:31-34

Worry accomplishes nothing and is actually detrimental to our health. It is said that 99% of what we worry about never actually happens, so it is a fruitless exercise.
Why do we worry? We worry because we do not trust God to take care of us. And many times, we have not because we ask not.
From Jesus’ own mouth, He tells us that God takes care of the lilies of the field and the birds of the air. What makes us think He won’t also take care of us?
Verse 33 is my life verse: “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need.”
If we put God first in everything and don’t forget the second part—to live righteously—He will take care of us. That is a promise.
God needs to be first and foremost in our hearts and minds, and we need to make sure we are not struggling because of unchecked sin in our lives, for sin throws a wrench into God’s good plans for us.
We either believe Jesus or we don’t. It is okay if we have doubts, but we need to go to Him with them and ask God to help us with our unbelief, just as the father of the demon-possessed boy did when he said, “I do believe; help my unbelief!”
I think that describes most of us to one degree or another. Yet we have Jesus plainly telling us that God will take care of us.
I believe He has proven Himself trustworthy.
