Psalm 91:5-8

Safety and protection from external forces are found in the Lord. When we are walking with God, we are not to fear the things happening around us. God is quite able to protect us.
However, this doesn’t mean we aren’t going to see some bad things happening around us. As the psalmist states: “Though a thousand at your side, though ten thousand fall are dying around you, these evils WILL NOT TOUCH YOU. But we will see evil befall those who choose not to dwell under the shadow of the Almighty which is difficult to watch. As Solomon said, “with much wisdom, comes much sorrow.” It is difficult to watch people suffer the consequences of poor choices because they choose not to live under the protection of God.
Notice it says ‘these evils’. We must understand that evil exists and it wants to take us out. Many are unwittingly its victims because they have not learned how to submit, let alone dwell under the shadow of the Almighty. They have not made Him their shelter. So when they face something more formidable than they are, they fall. We must understand there is none more formidable than God and no safer place to be than in His presence.
When it comes to spiritual responsibility, each man or woman gets to choose their own path. God does not force us to follow Him but rather invites us to walk with Him which comes with all the protections He affords.
Life really does boil down to choices and who we are aligned with. Choose wisely!
