Psalms:1-5

Our God is a Mighty King and a lover of justice. He acts with justice and righteousness and has established fairness. This tells me that God can be trusted to right any wrongs we experience in this life. The trick is to not complicate things with an overreaction on our part. “Vengeance is Mine, says the Lord. I will repay!” We just have to get better about putting things beyond our control in His most capable hands.

This Psalm also tells me that the Lord is to be revered and not taken for granted. Words like ‘tremble’ and ‘quake’ tell me that God is not to be trifled with. He is King and He is to be honored as such. We have to make sure we don’t treat Holy things as common.

God had some tough words for Israel in Ezekiel 22:26:

“Your priests have violated my instructions and defiled my holy things. They make no distinction between what is holy and what is not. And they do not teach my people the difference between what is ceremonially clean and unclean. They disregard my Sabbath days so that I am dishonored among them.”

It is important to give God the honor and glory due His Name and to not dishonor Him in the way we live. If we call ourselves followers of Christ, we need to be people of the Book - the Bible. In the words of Jesus, “Why do you call Me Lord, Lord, and not do what I say?

Good question!
