Acts 13:26-31

There is tremendous power in the testimony of a personal witness. Witnesses are a threat to those who oppose the truth being made known. That is why some enter witness protection programs—to stay alive so they can testify to the truth. It is hard to believe that the truth can be so threatening to some, but the fact is, they killed Jesus because of it.

We are all called to be witnesses—not only of the truth, but also of its work in our personal lives. We may not have walked physically with Jesus as His disciples did, but Jesus still lives and works through His people today. We are witnesses and bear testimony to the work He continues to do in each of our lives. It is not just a story we are telling; we have the evidence of a changed life through the power of Christ.

I remember having a conversation with my dad about the Lord one day. He was questioning why I believed as I did. I told him, “Dad, I have seen too much to deny Him.” He asked, “Well, why hasn’t God shown Himself to me?” I replied, “Have you ever asked Him to? Ask God to show Himself to you, and He will.”

There is a Scripture in Jeremiah 29:13-14 that states:

“If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. I will be found by you,” says the Lord.”

In order to find something you are missing, you have to look for it. Treasure does not usually just drop into your lap. Trust me when I say there is no greater treasure than the Lord.

Consider the words of Solomon in Proverbs:

“My child, listen to what I say, and treasure my commands. Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding. Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures. Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord, and you will gain knowledge of God. For the Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest. He is a shield to those who walk with integrity. He guards the paths of the just and protects those who are faithful to him.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭2‬:‭1‬-‭8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Paul is testifying as one who did not walk with Jesus during His earthly ministry, but rather had subsequent revelations and encounters with Him after His resurrection. What else could change a man who was groomed in the strictest sect of Jewish law as a Pharisee? He gave up everything he knew because of his encounter with Christ.

Have we encountered Christ in a personal, life-changing way? We cannot truly experience Him and remain the same, because He forever changes us. He calls each of us into a vibrant relationship with Himself—a relationship that Paul experienced and desired for every believer, as he wrote in his letter to the Ephesians:

“I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬-‭19‬ ‭NLT‬‬

There is more to Christ than we currently know. The question is not whether He can be found, but whether we are seeking Him. God has never hidden Himself from those who genuinely desire to know Him. As we pursue Him with sincere hearts, He faithfully reveals more of His character, His love, and His purpose for our lives. The deeper we seek Him, the deeper our relationship with Him becomes, and the stronger our testimony grows.
