Psalm 144:9-11

I love how David speaks both to himself and God in these Psalms. It is as though he is reminding his own heart while also promising God what he will do.

God grants victory to kings—of which David is one. True victory rests with the Lord, and we must ensure we are in good standing with Him. Not only that, when we are doing the will of the Lord, we can be confident of His blessing. God always blesses His will; ours, He keeps under advisement.

David also highlights the reality that some people say one thing yet do another. It is frustrating when you cannot trust someone’s words. One lie casts doubt on everything else they say, yet they may imply that you are the problem for not believing them. As my husband said in church yesterday—trust is earned.

As the Scriptures state, God is not a man that He should lie. It is for that reason, among many others, God has truly earned our trust!

Question: In what ways can I, like David, remind my own heart of God's truth while also expressing my commitment to Him?
