Psalm144:3-4

David ponders with amazement God’s intricate care over humankind—a sentiment he expresses in greater detail in Psalm 8:3-8:
“When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers— the moon and the stars you set in place— what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them? Yet you made them only a little lower than God and crowned them with glory and honor. You gave them charge of everything you made, putting all things under their authority— the flocks and the herds and all the wild animals, the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea, and everything that swims the ocean currents.”

When we consider the vastness of creation, it can be overwhelming. One has only to go see Yosemite National Park, the Grand Canyon, the majesty of Mt. Rainer, or the towering redwoods and sequoia to be brought back down to size.
It is awe-inspiring to see such magnificent sites and realize that these things were created for us. They testify of an incredible Creator who is deeply invested in the details. When we allow ourselves to contemplate these wonders and our place in the grand scheme of things, all we can do is say, thank You, for we had no part in their creation. What a benevolent God who cares so deeply for His creation.
You are loved that much. Let that sink in.
Jesus emphasized this truth in this way:
““That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?”

I think our problem is that we are so distracted by everyday life—life that flies by—that we forget to take time to enjoy the beauty before us. As I have reflected on these things this morning, a well of peace and joy has risen in my soul with the realization that, Yes! My Father loves me that much and I am well taken care of.
I pray for that same realization to rest upon each and every one of us. Life is too short to walk or run through without knowing Who it comes from and what it is for. Connect with your Creator. He is an awesome God!
