Psalm 135:5-12

God owns everything and gives whatever He wants to whomever He pleases. The history of Israel is remarkable, as we read of Abraham’s pilgrimage from the land of Ur of the Chaldeans to the Promised Land given to him by God. According to Deuteronomy 32:8, it is the Lord who “assigned lands to the nations, when He divided up the human race.”
Proverbs warns us:
“Don’t cheat your neighbor by moving the ancient boundary markers set up by previous generations.”
Proverbs 22:28 NLT

Nations void of God have presumed they could disregard such boundaries and have gone on conquering binges, only to be put on a short leash by their Creator. At times, God uses nations to displace others because of the sin rampant within those countries. Consider God’s words to Jeremiah:
““The day is coming,” says the Lord, “when I will greatly increase the human population and the number of animals here in Israel and Judah. In the past I deliberately uprooted and tore down this nation. I overthrew it, destroyed it, and brought disaster upon it. But in the future I will just as deliberately plant it and build it up. I, the Lord, have spoken!”
Jeremiah 31:27-28 NLT

Those words, spoken more than 2500 years ago, have been realized in our lifetime as Israel has been replanted in their land as of 1948, and has flourished ever since.
Consider God’s words to Isaiah:
“For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I gave Egypt as a ransom for your freedom; I gave Ethiopia and Seba in your place. Others were given in exchange for you. I traded their lives for yours because you are precious to me. You are honored, and I love you. “Do not be afraid, for I am with you. I will gather you and your children from east and west. I will say to the north and south, ‘Bring my sons and daughters back to Israel from the distant corners of the earth. Bring all who claim me as their God, for I have made them for my glory. It was I who created them.’””
Isaiah 43:3-7 NLT

It pays to be in God’s favor. Even Jesus said, “Every plant not planted by my Heavenly Father will be uprooted” (Matthew 15:13-14 NLT).
When I read Scriptures like these, they always cause me to pause and reevaluate my relationship with God. Are my ways pleasing Him? Am I walking in His favor? Is my life experiencing the blessings of God? If not, I must reexamine my life, adjust my ways, and return to right standing with the King.
In the words of King David:
“The Lord is the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You support my lot. The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; Indeed, my heritage is beautiful to me.”
Psalms 16:5-6 NASB1995

Life is good, and the lines indeed fall in pleasant places, when we are walking in step with the King.
