Psalm 124:1-8

We can never forget that it is by God’s might and power that we are saved and delivered.
Proverbs 21:31 states:
“The horse is prepared for the day of battle, but the victory belongs to the Lord.”

Our strength is limited and subject to fatigue, whereas God’s strength is unlimited. Throughout Scripture, we find constant reminders that God is “the strength of our life and our portion forever” (Psalm 73:26). 1 Samuel 2:9 tells us that “no one will succeed by strength alone.” And we are told to put on or “clothe ourselves with Christ” (Romans 13:14), and “to put on the whole armor of God” that we may stand strong in the day of battle (Ephesians 6:11).
The Apostle Paul reminds us:
“For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.”
Philippians 2:13 NLT

And Paul firmly declares his dependence on God’s power:
“That’s why I work and struggle so hard, depending on Christ’s mighty power that works within me.”

Why do we attempt to take on life without God? My best days are always the ones when I invite Him to be a part of them. David, who wrote this psalm, clearly understood this truth as he reminded Israel who had been their source of strength when he boldly proclaimed: “Our help is from the Lord who made heaven and earth.”
Trust me when I say there will be times in life when it may seem as though there is no way out of what you are facing. I encourage you to invite God into your mess and watch Him put your life back together. My husband likes to recite a nursery rhyme like this:
“ Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall.
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the kings horses and all the kings men
couldn’t put Humpty back together again—but God can!”
I remember a time in my life when I felt fragmented in so many pieces, and I asked God to put me back together—and He did! Life can deal some serious blows that can take us out if we are not careful, but with God, we can weather any storm in His strength. Don’t limit yourself to just you. There is a God who knows your name and waits to be invited into your life.
Consider Isaiah 30:18:
“So the Lord must wait for you to come to him so he can show you his love and compassion. For the Lord is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for his help.”
Isaiah 30:18 NLT
