Psalm 119:97-104

There is great protection found in keeping the ways of the Lord. People tend to view the Bible merely as a religious book, when in fact, it is the constitution of the Kingdom of God. By keeping its regulations, we remain in good standing with the King, and as a result, the rights of citizenship are afforded to us. What are our citizen rights? For one, we have a spiritual hedge of protection around us.
Consider Psalm 91:9-12:
“If you make the Lord your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.”

Let it be known that we live in the kingdom of darkness as ambassadors of the Light. The psalmist proclaims that God’s instructions make him wiser than his enemies and give him more insight than his teachers. The Word of God is perfect, flawless, and powerful—able to direct, guide, and deliver us. The truth you know is the truth that will set you free.
There is nothing more dangerous to the kingdom of darkness than a Spirit-filled believer armed with the Word of God. Darkness must flee wherever light shines. The devil was certainly in a pickle when Jesus showed up. First, he tried to bribe Him; when that didn’t work, he sought to destroy Him. In fact, the devil wanted Him dead from the very beginning, for he also knew the prophecies concerning the coming Messiah—the child to be born in Bethlehem.
We must never forget that we are in enemy territory. We are soldiers of the Light, and we must arm ourselves with the Word of God. What soldier goes into battle without his gear? We are equipped with righteousness, the Word of Truth, the shield of faith, and the Spirit of God. We need to make sure we suit up every day.
Revelations 12:10-11 states:
“Then I heard a loud voice shouting across the heavens, “It has come at last— salvation and power and the Kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters has been thrown down to earth— the one who accuses them before our God day and night. And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony. And they did not love their lives so much that they were afraid to die.”

We must not become so caught up in this life that we fail to prepare for the next. God will bring us safely home, but until then, we have work to do here. The Word of God is both our best defense and our greatest offense. It is our defense because it keeps our feet on solid ground, and it is our offense because we are called to reclaim what the enemy has stolen. That is why we pray for His kingdom to come and His will to be done here on earth as it is in heaven. Through us, as we submit to Christ, that prayer becomes a reality. God’s reign is extended through His people.
That is the mission, is it not? We are called to go and make disciples of all nations.
Let’s make a difference in this world for Christ!
