Psalm 111:10

Wisdom starts here. There is no wisdom apart from the fear of the Lord. Oh, there is knowledge, but knowledge does not equate to wisdom. I have heard it said that wisdom is the correct application of knowledge; however, it was our quest for knowledge that got us in trouble to begin with. The serpent deceived Eve into disobeying God to eat of the fruit of “the knowledge of good and evil.” Knowledge, void of an understanding and fear of the Lord, leads to pride, self-deception, and eventual damnation.
The Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 8:1 states:
“…But while knowledge makes us feel important, it is love that strengthens the church. Anyone who claims to know all the answers doesn’t really know very much. But the person who loves God is the one whom God recognizes.”

Knowledge makes us feel important but what good is knowledge without the key that opens our understanding of it.
Consider Paul’s words in 1 Corinthians 1:26-29:
“Remember, dear brothers and sisters, that few of you were wise in the world’s eyes or powerful or wealthy when God called you. Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful. God chose things despised by the world, things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important. As a result, no one can ever boast in the presence of God.”

And further in 1 Corinthians 3:18-19:
“Stop deceiving yourselves. If you think you are wise by this world’s standards, you need to become a fool to be truly wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God. As the Scriptures say, “He traps the wise in the snare of their own cleverness.””

James, states in James 2:5:
“Listen to me, dear brothers and sisters. Hasn’t God chosen the poor in this world to be rich in faith? Aren’t they the ones who will inherit the Kingdom he promised to those who love him?”
James 2:5 NLT

And in the words of Jesus:
“And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?”
Matthew 16:26 NLT

The fear of the Lord is the key to wisdom. There are a lot of “knowledge doors” out there but the fear of the Lord is the key that opens the right door leading to wisdom.
