Psalm 109:1-7

This sounds like modern day politics! The devil’s playbook has not changed, just the players. I get leery of smear campaigns, and breaking news as most of the time it is skewed. Time is the best gauge for the truth.
Yet, how much damage is wrought by a lie? We are all in this mess because of a lie the serpent told Eve in the garden. That lie cost us Eden and if we don’t accept the sacrifice God gave in His Son Jesus, it will cost us eternity in heaven too. Oh, we still get eternity because we are a living soul but our destination is hell without Jesus.
It is unfortunate that people feel they must not just lie, but lie about other people, slandering them, to try and get ahead in life. Evil knows no bounds. If you are a righteous person, your very presence is a threat to the workings of darkness.
King David experienced this kind of treatment from his contemporaries, and absolute betrayal from not only someone he called a friend but also from his son. Jesus experienced it too, so we should not be surprised when those we thought were with us, actually turn against us. Darkness has crept into the soul of the accuser one way or another, yet we can be sure that every baseless accusation will be exposed for what it is.
We have a promise from God that is found in Isaiah 54:17:
“But in that coming day no weapon turned against you will succeed. You will silence every voice raised up to accuse you. These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the Lord; their vindication will come from me. I, the Lord, have spoken!”

These are the benefits enjoyed by the servants of the Lord! He is our vindication and the truth always wins out, but be prepared for the process. We have seen God right wrongs throughout history but there always seems to be a time element involved that tests our character. Think of the story of Joseph wrongly accused in prison, the story of David on the run, the story of Daniel in the lion’s den, the story of Esther with Haman and the impending destruction of her people. God always takes what the devil meant for evil and turns it to good in our lives. We need to just keep looking up from where we know our help comes and not lose faith.
Consider Jesus words as he explained the meaning of the Parable of the Persistent widow in Luke 18:6-8:
“Then the Lord said, “Learn a lesson from this unjust judge. Even he rendered a just decision in the end. So don’t you think God will surely give justice to his chosen people who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will grant justice to them quickly! But when the Son of Man returns, how many will he find on the earth who have faith?””
Luke 18:6-8 NLT

Don’t lose faith and keep believing. God will come through for you!
