Psalm 108:7-13

Not all the psalms were written by David but this is one that was. David was very good at reminding God of His promises because he knew God was faithful to His word.

David learned that prayer was, and is, a powerful tool, and weapon in some cases,  in accomplishing all that God has for us. Prayer unlocks the windows of heaven when we understand how to wield it.

When we have a grasp of what the will of the Lord is, we have the delegated authority given by God to ask and receive things in line with His will. That is what David is doing here by recalling God’s own words concerning what we know as the land of Israel and asking God to intervene according to His word. He is appealing to God’s reputation as a keeper of His word.

Consider 1 John 5:14-15 NASB 1995:

“This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.”

There is a powerful key and promise contained in these verses. Jesus told us to pray for God’s will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. We just need to find out what God’s will is and get to work proclaiming it over our families, our cities, our states, our country, and the nations. We will find out His will as we read the Bible. James 4:2-3 says that “we have not because we ask not”, and  prayer ( our means of asking) unlocks the power of heaven to make God’s will happen. To quote John Westley, “God does nothing but in answer to prayer.”

We need to pray more!!!
